Newark PD rolls out summer plans in wake of violence
Following an outbreak of violence in the Brick City this past holiday weekend, the Newark Police Department is rolling out summer plans to make the streets safer.
The police department's summer measures include stronger curfews, community outreach programs and the opening of a new precinct building. The hope is that the new plans will help curb the violence in Newark.
A vigil was held tonight at the site of a drive-by shooting that took the life of Newark police officer William Johnson. Community members also came out to voice their frustrations over the recent deadly violence.
