Manalapan residents trying to put the brake on new car dealership

Residents in Manalapan are trying to put the brakes on a plan to open a new car dealership on the corner of Route 9 and Taylors Mills Road.
The Ray Catena Auto Group wants to open a dealership on the site of a vacant office building at the intersection.
Residents say the dealership would cause greater traffic congestion in an area that already has traffic issues.
A spokesman for the dealership says a car dealer would generate less traffic than an office complex filled with employee cars.
The issue is expected to be discussed at the town's next planning board meeting Dec. 8 at 8 p.m.
