Officials: 14 NJ health workers accused in kickback scheme

Fourteen New Jersey health care professionals were arrested Tuesday after being accused of taking part in a kickback scheme.
Eight of the 14 arrested practiced in Newark. After being arrested, all 14 appeared before a judge today in federal court.
The U.S. attorney general's office says the 13 doctors and one nurse practitioner made hundreds, sometimes thousands of dollars by sending patients to Orange Community MRI.
Some of the accused had attorneys and some did not. They each have the right to a preliminary hearing, but it's not clear whether all of the suspects will take one. For now, the preliminary hearing is slated for Jan. 3.
