Shoppers head to Brick City for last-minute gifts

Retailers in Newark are busy tonight as many shoppers head to shops in the city's downtown for some last-minute Christmas shopping.

Thanks to all of the bus lines that connect to downtown, many people here are keeping their dollars close to home.

Downtown Newark is also attracting shoppers who don't rely on the bus lines. After years of marketing and money spent to improve aesthetics, new businesses are cropping up. There are more than a dozen retailers with national brands and competitive prices.
