Election Day expected to have light turnout

The elections being held tomorrow are expected to have a light turnout. Every seat in the state Legislature will be up for grabs, yet historically these races haven't gotten much attention from voters.

The state legislative elections will wind up affecting our lives as much as or more than a race for Congress. However, one pollster says less than 30 percent of voters may cast ballots in this week's election.

Political analyst Ingrid Reed says unlike a race for governor, which has an extensive campaign as well as daily media coverage, legislative campaigns amount to more than 100 smaller races in 40 smaller districts, which translates to less advertising, less coverage and less public awareness.

Reeds says that there is a chance that voter turnout could be higher than expected because of the public battle that has been staged between the governor and lawmakers.
