Following elections, shift in Democratic leadership put into effect

Democratic leadership changes are taking effect in the Legislature following this week's elections.

Among the Democratic leadership changes are state Sen. Loretta Weinberg replacing state Sen. Barbara Buono as Senate majority leader. Assemblyman Lou Greenwald will take over for Assemblyman Joe Cryan as Assembly majority leader. Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver and Senate President Steve Sweeney are still in charge, and say the voters in this week's election want them to stick to their policy guns. At an afternoon news conference, Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.) shrugged off talk of a Democratic mandate, and said he expects both sides to find common ground.
