Dog that survived gassing finds new home in Nutley

The beagle mix that survived an Alabama dog pound's gas chamber has found a permanent home in New Jersey.

Eleventh Hour Rescue announced that "Daniel" has been placed with a family inNutley. The group says it reviewed hundreds of applications for the dog.

The rescue group arranged for the dog to be flown to New Jersey after he emerged with his tail wagging from the gas chamber at the Animal Control facility in Florence, Ala., on Oct. 3.

No one is sure why the dog survived.
