Blind Morris County man fights to get guns back
(AP) - Authorities have gone to court to forcea blind New Jersey man to forfeit his guns.
Morris County prosecutors say Steven Hopler is unfit to safelymaintain 14 handguns.
The Daily Record of Parsippany reports the 48-year-old's attorney on Thursday told a judge thatHopler is capable to keep the weapons and has complied withconditions set by the court last year. Hopler completed a firearmssafety course and underwent an alcohol evaluation.
A court in 1994 allowed Hopler to purchase firearms and shootthem under strict conditions.
The court hearing is scheduled to resume on Dec. 8.
