Some NJ residents still rebuilding after Hurricane Irene

Some Garden State residents are still trying to rebuild their homes that were damaged by Hurricane Irene.

News 12 New Jersey visited one Morris County community to see what the residents? Thanksgiving will look like.

The Hooiman family had to gut their entire first floor and live upstairs with only a microwave for cooking. The family is working to rebuild, but progress has been slow. The family is hoping that an oven will be installed in time to cook the Thanksgiving turkey.

The Martinellis, who live down the street, do not have a kitchen either and say they will be going to relatives for dinner.

Some in the neighborhood won't celebrate Thanksgiving. They say they'll use the day to work on their homes, hoping they'll be finished in time to at least have a normal Christmas.
