Animal rights advocates ask court to halt bear hunt

Animal rights advocates want three New Jersey judges to pull the plug on the state's planned bear hunt. Today, advocates both for and against the hunt made their case in a Trenton courtroom. Supporters say data shows the hunt is a successful way to control the bear population while providing valuable scientific information. Opponents say the hunt is based on rigged science and is nothing more than a political thank you to hunters for supporting Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.) during his election campaign. While there is no timetable for the judges to return a ruling, the clock is ticking. The hunt is scheduled for Dec. 5 - Dec. 10. Activists: Stop black bear hunt before it starts
