Northern New Jersey residents prepare for Irene

Residents in Northern New Jersey are doing their part to protect themselves from Hurricane Irene.

Essex County is anticipating uprooted trees due to the moist soil and flooding in many areas far from the edge of the Passaic River.

Those that live near the river basin in Belleville are sandbagging their property, as previous storms have caused damage that is expensive to repair.
