Atlantic City casinos to reopen Monday

(AP) - Atlantic City's casinos report littledamage from Hurricane Irene, and the 11 gambling halls will reopenMonday at noon after being shuttered for the weekend.

They'll first have to go through a long checklist of approvalsfrom New Jersey casino regulators, all designed to ensure theintegrity of the games.

Bob Griffin, president of the Casino Association of New Jersey, says money has to be brought back into the cash cages under statesupervision. Surveillance and computer systems also need to bechecked and tested.

He can't estimate how much the three-day shutdown will cost theindustry, but says it will be significant. Before Irene, thisweekend was shaping up to be one of the best of the year. It was only the third time all 11 casinos were closed.
