Fire in Wayne leaves at least two dozen homeless

Firefighters battled a three-alarm fire at an apartment complex on Brittany Drive in Wayne earlier today. The building now has to be demolished and at least two dozen people are homeless.

Authorities say the fire broke out at around 11 a.m. inside building 10 as temperatures outside soared into the 90s. Fire officials believe the blaze started in a second-story bathroom ceiling.

Officials say three firefighters were injured, two were treated for heat exhaustion and another fell through the floor but later went back to work. Residents were safely evacuated.
