3 employees, 23 patrons arrested in raid on bar

Two bartenders, a bouncer and 23 underage patrons face charges after a raid by state investigators targeting underage drinking near the Rutgers University campus in New Brunswick.

The bartenders at the Scarlet Pub were charged with selling alcohol to underage patrons, while the bouncer was charged with aiding people under the legal age to consume alcohol.

Authorities say 22 people were charged with underage drinking, including four who were also charged with presenting fake IDs, while another patron was charged only with presenting a fake identification. All 23 are from New Jersey and range in age from 17 to 20.

Wednesday's sweep came as part of the state Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control's College Initiative enforcement program.
