New lessons being prepared ahead of 9/11 anniversary

As the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11th looms, New Jersey school teachers have put together new lesson plans on the terrorist attacks.

The curriculum is important to many family members of victims. MaryEllen Salamone, who lost her husband in the terror attacks, says that the new course of study is a lesson in healing for her and her three children.

The lessons range from the meaning of hurtful words for elementary students to the dangers of chemical weapons for high school students. Teachers who volunteered to write the lessons say they wanted students who were very young in 2001 to understand what led to the attacks, and how the world changed as a result.

No school is required to teach any of the curriculum.Group of educators create plan to teach kids about 9/11
