Prosecutor: Parking dispute sparked Ewing complex shooting

Authorities say a parking space dispute triggered a deadly shooting that led to a standoff at an apartment complex in Ewing yesterday. According to residents, there are no assigned parking spaces at the apartment complex.

Officials believe 50-year-old Wayne Voorhees shot 24-year-old Timothy Rivella before holding police at bay for nearly eight hours from inside his apartment at Versailles Apartment Complex.

The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office says the standoff ended after state police stormed the unit and found Voorhees with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He remains in serious condition at Capital Health Systems Hospital at Fuld.

Voorhees has been charged with murder, possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He is being held on $1 million bail.Tense standoff comes to an end in Ewing
