Repairs on collapsed Hackensack garage nearly complete

One year after the parking garage collapse at Prospect Towers in Hackensack, the city's construction manager says repairs are almost finished and the building is safe.

The collapse, during which the parking garage of the building came crashing down, forced hundreds to evacuate from their homes last year.

As for the garage, city construction officials say cars can now be parked there, but some areas are still off limits. The garage also has new galvanized pipes in the sprinkler system. Renovations have also been done throughout the building, including a reinforced balcony.Hackensack high-rise reopens 5 months after collapseTenants displaced by Hackensack garage collapse still waitingResidents attend meeting on Hackensack collapse Tenants retrieve belongings after garage collapseInspectors join officials in Hackensack to look at progressEngineer appears to have predicted Hackensack collapseHackensack Building Collapse: Previous Coverage
