Woman bit twice by rabid skunk in Fair Lawn

A woman attempted to help a baby skunk across the road in Fair Lawn last week and was bitten twice in the process.

The Fair Lawn Health Department says that the skunk tested positive for rabies. The woman was treated at the hospital and is on medication to prevent rabies from setting in. Now, the health department is warning anyone who lives in or visits Bergen County to watch out.

The health department doesn't recommend helping an animal at all and says to always call Animal Control or the local police department first.
