Searing summer heat affects people across New Jersey

The sun is so hot that some business owners say the effects of the weather are comparable to a winter storm.

The heat is making an impact on people across New Jersey. News 12 New Jersey visited the Perth Amboy water front, where some people were still working outside out of necessity.

Slavko Petric was cooking outside over a hot stove inside his food truck. He says he's ready to serve customers at his spot, but there aren't very many lining up for hot food. Petric says it is too hot for business.

Petric has been cooking for a living since he was 18, and can take a hot kitchen, but says he just needs customers willing to come out in the hot weather.
