Helicopter makes emergency landing near South Brunswick school

South Brunswick police say two people were seriously hurt after a helicopter made an emergency landing in a field near a school.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the Robinson R22 helicopter made an emergency landing near the Indian Fields Elementary School on Ridge Road and Route 130.

Authorities say a 27-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman were aboard the helicopter when it came down. They say the two survived the crash and were out of the helicopter when emergency crews arrived on the scene.

Both were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. The 27-year-old was taken by ambulance and the 44-year-old was airlifted.

Investigators believe the helicopter flight originated from Princeton.
