Weather update: Heat warning issued for most of NJ

Nearly all of New Jersey is under an excessive heat warning through Saturday evening as a large dome of high pressure brings stifling heat and humidity to the region.

News 12 New Jersey Meteorologist Dave Curren says the heat and humidity combined to make it feel like 105 degrees today and as hot as 107-115 degrees on Friday and Saturday. Curren says don't expect it to feel much cooler in the evening, when temperatures may not drop below 80 degrees.

An air quality alert is also in place for most of the state until midnight.

Curren expects the heat wave to break after Sunday.
