Man is killed after stepping in front of train in Bridgewater

Officials say a man was killed after he stepped in front of a commuter train traveling from Newark to High Bridge in Somerset County.

A spokeswoman for New Jersey Transit reportedly said that the incident happened about 5:50 p.m. Thursday in Bridgewater, shutting down that single-track section of the Raritan Valley Line for about 2 ½ hours.

The man's identity is being withheld pending notification of his family.
