Officials: Pit bull saved after being abandoned by breeder

A pit bull was found stranded on the banks of the Passaic River on a pile of debris after being abandoned by her breeder, according to Animal Control officers.

The purebred pit bull is now in safe hands and is being called Dolly. News 12 New Jersey found out that the dog is on the road to recovery, and the search for her abuser is on.

Animal Control officers say Dolly recently gave birth, but there was no sign of any puppies. The dog had a fever when it was discovered, which has since gone down. Dolly was also given antibiotics to fight off any bacteria it may have gotten from drinking river water.

Animal Control hopes someone will recognize the dog and report the previous owner.
