Work gets under way to lift capsized boat from Manasquan Inlet

Work is under way to lift a capsized scallop boat from the Manasquan Inlet.

Salvage crews are making a second attempt at bringing the boat up after a failed attempt shortly after the incident. Once the boat is hoisted out with the crane, it will be carried on the barge and taken to scrap apart. The cost of the removal, as well as environmental cleanup from the oil, is the responsibility of the owner and his insurance company.

The three-man crew from the "Atlantic Traveler" was rescued by the Coast Guard on May 11 before it capsized due to an apparent mechanical failure.
