Kane in Your Corner: Beachwood mayor steps down

A Kane in Your Corner investigation found that Beachwood Mayor Ron Jones (D-N.J.) resigned just as the town was planning to hold hearings to force him out.

Jones has been the subject of several Kane in Your Corner investigations after he allegedly campaigned for office by accusing his opponent of being a tax cheat. News 12 New Jersey found out that Jones hadn't paid his own taxes in more than six years.

Jones also claimed that he was too disabled to work as a police dispatcher, but in another Kane in Your Corner investigation, Jones was found to be quietly launching his political career, setting himself up to earn a salary and disability pension at the same time.

Councilman Gerry LaCrosse says that Jones had moved out of Beachwood to nearby Toms River.

Jones has since stepped down, citing "business and personal commitments."
