Film tells story of Seton Hall firePosted: Updated:
The story of Seton Hall's devastating dorm fire in 2000 is being retold on the big screen. The film premiered tonight at the Hoboken International Film Festival in Teaneck.
Shawn Simons and his roommate, Alvaro Llanos, suffered life-changing burns in the arson fire that ripped through their freshman dormitory on a bitter January morning nearly a dozen years ago. Three Seton Hall students were killed and 58 others were injured. Simons was among the first to see his story at the debut.
The film is only about 40 minutes long, but the hope is that Hollywood scouts will see the film and like it enough to turn the New Jersey story of tragedy and triumph into a full-length film seen by audiences across the country.
