Many schools let out early today due to heat

Dozens of schools across the Garden State are dismissing students early for a second day because of the spring heat wave.

Most schools will let out by 1:30 p.m. as temperatures are expected to climb to near 100 degrees through the afternoon and early evening hours.

Several after school sports programs and activities have also been canceled due to the heat.

School officials say there's not enough air conditioning and fans just aren't getting the job done.
