Passaic County takes bite out of mosquito population
Passaic County spray crews are getting a head start on the mosquito population following severe rain and flooding in the region this spring.
As they have in the past, spray crews are concentrating on areas near woods, swamp lands and anywhere else that might attract large mosquito populations.
Experts say the popular mosquito species this year lays its eggs in mud. The eggs can survive for up to three years before hatching as they wait for big floods.
