Police make arrest in Franklin Twp. fatal hit-and-run

A Pennsylvania man has been arrested in connection with the hit-and-run death of a Piscataway woman who was struck while helping an injured dog in the roadway, Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano said yesterday.

Officials say Brian McCauslin, 38, of York Springs, Pa., is accused of driving the pick up truck that struck and killed 23-year-old Tiffany Jantelle early Saturday morning.

Soriano said McCauslin exited his vehicle after hitting Jantelle along Weston Canal Road in Franklin Township. McCauslin looked at the injured woman, and then fled the scene in his truck, Soriano said.

Police say Jantelle died from her injuries Sunday at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.

McCauslin remains in the Adams County, Pa., jail while he awaits extradition, Soriano said.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact either the Franklin Township Police Department at 732-873-5533, the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Squad at 908-231-7100, or the Somerset County Crime Stoppers' Tip Line at 1-888-577-TIPS (8477).
