Christie conditionally vetoes NJ adoption bill

(AP) - Gov. Chris Christie has conditionallyvetoed a bill that would allow adoptees in New Jersey to accesstheir original birth certificates with the names of their birthparents.

Christie is asking lawmakers to add additional protections forbirth parents before he would be willing to sign it into law.

Christie's has recommended removing an aspect of the bill thatlets adoptees learn the identity of their birth parents against thewishes of those parents.

The original bill was approved by the Legislature May 9.Thursday was the deadline for Christie to sign it or veto it.
