New Asbury Park meters come with higher fees, headaches

New parking meters were recently installed in Asbury Park, but those that use them still have complaints.

Those that use the new machines say that they put in money and don't receive change. There are also complaints about higher prices, which are double from last year. Currently it is $2 an hour to park on Ocean Avenue and $1 an hour to park on side streets.

Visitors can also use the machines now to get beach badges and pay with credit or debit cards. The promised option of paying with a cell phone hasn't happened yet.

When contacted about the complaints, the Asbury Park city manager did not return News 12 New Jersey's calls.
