Commuters: We're forced to use crosswalk in the middle of traffic

The crosswalk that sits near the Fair Lawn/Elmwood Park train station off of Route 4 in Bergen County is causing concern among commuters.

Commuters and local police say something has to change before tragedy strikes.

News 12 New Jersey visited the crosswalk and spotted many drivers not stopping for pedestrians in the crosswalk. The police chiefs from Elmwood Park and Fair Lawn say they try to enforce the law, but they can only do so much.

The police chiefs and the commuters would like to see the Department of Transportation put in a traffic light, move the train station near the commuter lot or build a pedestrian bridge.
