Small plane makes emergency landing in Franklin Township

Two people are lucky to be alive after the small aircraft they were in made an emergency landing in Franklin Township this afternoon.

The single-engine Piper Tomahawk aircraft made the emergency landing on Weston Canal Road.

Witnesses say they think their aircraft lost power en-route to the nearby Central Jersey Regional Airport.

No one on the ground was hurt in the landing but the aircraft did take out a few power lines leaving some residents without power until service could be restored.

The FAA and NTSB will be conducting the investigation into what caused the plane to have to make the emergency landing.
