Bergen County police union presents robbery victim with new laptop

Bergen County police union members were so touched by the story of a Bergen Community College student in a wheelchair who was robbed that they decided to buy her a new laptop and give it to her in person.

Negeari Chavis was mugged on March 8 in the Pitkin Building at Bergen Community College. Chavis has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair to get around. She says someone stole her laptop right out of her hands while she waited for the elevator on campus.

The new laptop that police got for Chavis comes with a LoJack that will help police track it down if it's stolen.

Police are still searching for the thief who stole the original computer.
