Poll: Majority approve of Gov. Christie's performance
A new poll shows a majority of voters approve of the job Gov. Chris Christie is doing, but they want Democrats to stay in control of the state Legislature.
The Fairleigh Dickinson-PublicMind poll out today shows 51 percent approve of the way Christie is handling his job; 41 percent disapprove.
"He's not the Teflon governor," says Peter Woolley, a political scientist and director of the poll in a news release. "But right now he looks like the armored governor."The poll also showed that those polled want Democrats to control the Assembly and Senate after the November elections by a margin of 41-36 percent.
Woolley says it'll be difficult for Republicans to translate support for Christie into legislative gains because a new district map and voter registration numbers favor Democrats.
