Viewers: DiVincenzo is a disgrace for collecting pension, paycheck

Last week Kane in Your Corner exposed the fact that Essex County Executive Joe DiVencenzo is collecting both a paycheck and a pension.

DiVencenzo technically retired as Essex County executive last year, but stayed on the job, creating a loophole that allows him to earn $220,000 a year.

On Facebook, viewer Ray Sager said, DiVencenzo is "the worst kind of politician, he has come out in the past against public workers claiming they can't afford their pensions and turns around and pulls this scam. This is another disgrace in Jersey politics."

For now, the loophole is completely legal, and DiVencenzo isn't the only lawmaker taking advantage of it. At least four other legislators, including Loretta Wineberg, are doing the same thing. Wineberg says she started collecting her pension after losing money in the Bernie Madoff scam.
