1 killed, 1 injured in Monmouth County ATV crash

An all-terrain vehicle crashed yesterday in Wall Township, leaving the driver dead and his passenger injured. The men met in the Camp Evans area of Wall Township around dinnertime. They were driving around in a parking lot just down the street with some friends who were on street bikes.

David Foster, Jr., 19, of Neptune, who was injured in the crash, says he doesn't remember much of what happened. He says that they fell into a ditch before reaching the trail and hitting a tree. Neither was wearing a helmet.

Foster describes Tyler Bekier, 18, who died in the accident, as a thrill-seeking daredevil who loved speed. He says Bekier, who attended Manasquan High School, was planning to get his GED and join the Army.

Foster is currently being treated at Jersey Shore Medical Center.
