Meeting held in Fairfield about flood damage

A meeting was held tonight in Fairfield Township to discuss the damage that floodwaters left behind last month.

The people affected want something done now and hundreds of them braved tonight's rain to speak out.

Some blamed a dam in Oakland, while others said it's the fact that the rivers haven't been dredged.

A public advocacy group says using levees and floodwalls could be one solution, along with dredging, managing local dams better and stopping development in the floodplain.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers was also in attendance. It said that money and a non-federal sponsor are needed for a project to minimize flooding of the Passaic River.
