Transportation officials uphold ban of trucks on part of GSP

State transportation officials upheld a ban today on commercial trucks and tractor-trailers traveling on the Garden State Parkway north of Exit 105.

Trucks are permitted on the Parkway south of Exit 105 in Tinton Falls.

Officials claimed that allowing commercial traffic would increase toll revenue and could have possibly helped reduce traffic on other roadways. They said studies would have needed to be conducted to determine if the roadway could handle the additional traffic.
