A former Marlboro mayor is heading to a Delaware state prison for child sex abuse.

Officials say Matthew Scannapieco will serve 25 years for raping a child.

He pleaded guilty to rape, unlawful sexual contact, and continuous sex abuse of a child, telling detectives the acts happened between 2006 and 2008.

Scannapieco served as mayor from 1992 until 2003.

He already served nearly two years in prison for crimes which included tax evasion and accepting bribes and was released in 2010.
