New Jersey father admits to accidentally stabbing adult son

A northern New Jersey father admitted to accidentally stabbing his 27-year-old son in the chest during an argument reportedly over their shared romantic interests in a woman.
Forty-five-year-old Jose Pedraza-Rodriguez pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated assault Tuesday.
Prosecutors say Pedraza-Rodriguez and his son were arguing in his Dover home on Dec. 26, 2014 when the confrontation became physical.
Pedraza-Rodriguez told Superior Court Assignment Judge Stuart Minkowitz he was holding a knife when he pushed his son and the blade inadvertently pierced his son's chest.
Police found Pedraza-Rodriguez's son parked in a car on the side of a road after he was overcome by his injury while driving to a hospital.
Morris County Assistant Prosecutor Christopher Schellhorn has recommended probation for Pedraza-Rodriguez when he is sentenced Sept. 25.
