Police closing in on suspect in 2009 murder

Investigators in Monmouth County say they are closing in on the person they believe is responsible for the death of a beloved teacher.

Jonelle Melton was found beaten to death in her Brighton Arms apartment in Neptune City in September 2009. She taught at Red Bank Middle School.

Monmouth County Crime Stoppers say they have developed new leads in the case, but the public might have more information that can help prosecutors find the person responsible for Melton's death.

A $10,000 reward is being offered to anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case.

Anyone who believes they can help is urged to contact Monmouth County Crime Stoppers.
