Truck carrying Gatorade catches fire on I-287

Posted: Updated:

A truck carrying thousands of gallons of Gatorade burst into flames, closing a portion of I-287 North for a time Wednesday evening.

The trailer loaded with the Gatorade separated from the truck cab and went tumbling over the side of the road into a ravine. The cab of the truck caught fire and fuel leaked into the river below.

The mess caused a lot of traffic backups on the highway.

The driver was brought to the hospital with minor injuries. Emergency crews had to clean up a fuel spill.
