2 swimmers pulled from surf in Sea Bright, 1 dead

One of two people rescued from strong rip currents off of Sea Bright had died.



The two were swimming at an unguarded beach on Monday afternoon when they got into trouble.



Bystanders alerted nearby lifeguards who rescued one person. But it took 20 minutes to find the other swimmer.



Sea Bright Police Chief John Sorrentino tells the Asbury Park Press 18-year-old Kevin Seargross of Rockaway died at a hospital on Monday night.



Seargross was unconscious when he was pulled from the surf and lifeguards performed CPR.
