Report: Safety standards violated in firefighter's death

A new report accuses the Inwood Fire Department of violating safety standards in connection with the death of one of its firefighters.
As News 12 Long Island has reported, Joseph Sanford Jr. died after he apparently fell into the basement of a Woodmere home while battling a fire in December.
The 43-year-old firefighter was found face-down in about 18 inches of water.
A new state report says the fire department violated several safety and traning standards, including letting Sanford go into the home without a designated partner.
According to Newsday, the state issued the department four citations last month.
