A Jersey City man was sentenced to more than a century in prison for the death of his infant son.
A Hudson County judge sentenced Frederico Bruno to 113 years in prison for attacking his girlfriend Saydee Figueroa with a meat cleaver and pushing her from an apartment window in 2012.
Figueroa was holding their 3-month-old son Damien at the time. The baby died from his injuries.
Bruno told a judge that the baby's death was his mother's fault.
"She used the baby to land on," he said.
Figueroa and her friend who was also attacked were able to survive.
Damien's grandmother Haydee Morales said that it is hard to find any justice in the situation.
"[Bruno] is going to go through a lot of years in there, but he's never going to bring my grandbaby back," she said.
Bruno must serve at least 76 years of his sentence.
