Jersey City fire displaces 21 people

A quick-moving fire has left 21 people, including 12 children, out of their homes Wednesday.

The fire started in a house on Boyd Avenue just after 2 p.m. in Jersey City. The fire quickly spread to two adjacent homes

A woman who was evacuated tells News 12 New Jersey that a neighbor saw the fire and had their grandchild bang on doors to let people know about the emergency.

Firefighters responded to the home and were able to get the fire under control less than an hour later.

The American Red Cross has been notified to assist in the relocation of those affected by the fire.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
