Posted: Updated:

Police are investigating a shooting that left three people injured in Long Branch.

Officers responded to Coleman Avenue just before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. They found a 26-year-old Long Branch man on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound, according to a spokesman for the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

Authorities were later contacted by a different hospital reporting two other gunshot victims. They were only identified as a 30-year-old Eatontown man and a 47-year-old Long Branch man.

Neighbors tell News 12 New Jersey that a dozen kids were playing outside when the gunfire erupted. Nearby homes were peppered with bullet holes.

"They were scattering all over the place," says witness Judy Wesley. "People were crawling trying to get in the door. It was awful."

The names of the victims have not been released. They are all expected to survive their injuries.

Neighbors say that two of the victims are father and son.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Patrick Petruzziello at 1-800-533-7443 or Long Branch Police Detective David House at 732-222-1000.
