Car slams into multifamily home in Paterson
A major cleanup lies ahead for two Paterson families after a car slammed into their home early Sunday morning.
The driver crashed into the side of a duplex on the corner of East 33rd Street and 17th Avenue at around 1 a.m. The force of impact was so strong that pieces of the structure's foundation were sent into the street and the entire porch area was ripped away.
No one inside the home was injured.
After the crash, witnesses say they saw the driver get out of the car, unscrew his license plates and run away, leaving the damaged car at the scene.
Crews installed several support beams to steady the building, which is now condemned.
There is no word on whether police arrested the driver.
