New restaurant is next step in improving Journal Square

The revitalization of Jersey City's Journal Square took another step forward Thursday with the opening of Chickpea, a new restaurant that offers Mediterranean-style food.
Chickpea is just one of several retail stores and restaurants that the Port Authority plans to open at the Journal Square Transit Center.
"The goal with Journal Square for the Port Authority is to join in the resurgence of the whole Jersey City area," says Mike Marino, acting director of PATH.
Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop says the opening of Chickpea is the next step in the city's plan to redevelop the Journal Square neighborhood.
"Jersey City is working on redoing the plaza out here and the fountain, and then of course development around here," he says.
Mayor Fulop also says the improvements to the transit area will help incentivize people to use mass transit.
